I had my Endocrinologist appointment today. Still maintaining my A1C level (6.3). So, my diabetes is still controlled. We went over my Stress Test, which was normal. She is sending me to a cardiologist - due to increased knowledge of family medical history. Wants to make sure everything is ok. She said something about large breast tissue possibly blocking views during the stress test. Also, due to the fact that I only lost 1 pound since my June vist.. she wants me to work with the nutritionist. That's when I asked her about WLS..... she said I was a good canidate for WLS - Gastric By-pass Surgery. OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!! She said she would be my Doctor Advocate!!! I already know I have to do the 6 month diet, so I see the nutritionist this Friday - to get started... my 6 months start Friday. She recommended a doctor.... Dr. Leena Khaitan with The Emory Clinic, Inc. She is a General Surgeon and Gastrointestinal Surgeon. Has anyone used her or gone through the Emory Clinic. She told me to go to one of her seminars, do the research and pick a surgeon - while I am doing the 6 month diet. So, let me know about the the Surgeon, if anyone has used her. Thanks - Rebecca

Hi Rebecca, Good Luck on your journey... I had checked in to Dr. Khaitan. There was like almost a 2 year wait just to get in to her first seminar. By the time they had called me to get me in to a seminar, I had already had my Gastric Bypass done, with Dr. Clarence Hixon. He's a great doc but does not use Emory. Keep reading everything you can get your hands on. You'll be able to make an informed decision. That will be so helpful for you down the road. I had the big bust syndrome too, LOL. I ended up showing a false problem, or whatever you call it, and had to have a heart cath, it was a breeze (easier than the stress test!) and everything was fine! Thank God! Keep in touch, let me know if you have any questions, I'll be happy to help if I can. Barb 322/174 Fobi pouch rny 5/27/05
