Hello
I had my surgury April 08 and had the Fobi pouch. Dr. Fobi himself did my surgery. It was the best thing I have ever done with my life. I still have my days that I think I can eat just about everything but there are time my body does not agree with my mind. For me- it has been a wonderful experiance. but one thing I can tell you is- make sure mentally you are ready mind body and soul! good luck!!!

Well,  I will tell you that I have the Fobi pouch and tomorrow will be 2 years since surgery.  I did have laproscopic, but had NO complications what so ever.  I am extremely pleased with Dr. Fobi and think he is the best gastric bypass surgeon EVER.   I would do this surgery 100 times over if needed.  I am a true believer that this is the right move to make if you are at least 100 lbs overweight.  I have lost 150 lbs and recently had reconstructive surgery to have the excess skin removed.  To me, those surgeries were much more evasive and painful than the bypass.  I went back to work after 2 weeks when I had the gastric bypass and I was out for almost 3 months after these last surgeries.  Don't be afraid of the WLS if you are having Dr. Fobi.  I really can't speak for any other doctors.  However, I have a cousin that had WLS over 7 years ago and she is very pleased with her results as well.  I don't know if she had any complications, but if she did they must have been minor because I don't know about them.  You will be sooooo happy you did this.  It is definitely a life change and you will have to work at keeping the weight off for the rest of your life, but well worth the trade off of being healthy and feeling good about yourself.  There is alot of adjusting to do with your eating patterns and foods, but you will learn what your body can tolerate and which foods are the right choices.  Best of luck.

WEll girls, I can comment on my lap band journey.
Ive been out this wednesday for 12 weeks and i lost 26 pounds, I know its not taht much, but the band is made for smaller weight loss. most of the times.
I dont really watch what i eat 100% of the time but i do exercise hardcore everyday for an hour a day.
I havfe no regrets.
u pretty much gotta read about all the wls out there and make a decision taht will suit u better.
for me i chose hte band instead of the bypass, cause of the complications rate.
I know ill lose slower, but healthier,
I dont have anything bad to say about any surgeries, hope u will succed and this will help u make ur decisions.
Ive lost 26 pounds in 12 weeks and I eat wtv I want pretty much, got my 2nd fill last week, and it helped with restriction, I know the band usually it talke 4-5 fills before u get a sweet spot, but bypass u lose very quickly at first, which to me is alot better, sometimes I do wish i would of gotten the RNY but dont have any regrets either just discouraged on the slower weigh trloss with the band.
take care and good luck

Hello I know the band you have to work at it to lose the weight, you have to watch your diet and also exercise lots to lose the weight.
RNY, you will vomit , or sleep after eating fatening or sweet stuff.
For me personnaly, the bypass scared me cause the complications, longer time to recuperate etc.
I chose the lap band i had approx 100 pounds to lose this was the best choice for me as per my surgeon.
Im almost 12 weeks ou with 26 pounds lost, Not bad, but i don****ch waht i eat 100% of the time, but I do walk / Jog 5 - 6 deays a week for 1 hours each time.

I love my band, I know it will be a slower weight loss but healthier for me.
hope this helps, both surgeries are a good for wls, u just gotta see how much u wanna lose, how much motivation and if u are wiling to exercise,
TAke care.

Hello Gigi,
I had the surgery 18 years ago. The Fobi pouch  I lost 275 pounds. Over the last 5 years I have gained back 50 pounds. I developed a hole which I am going in to have fixed the 24th of this month.  Hopefully I will lose the 50 plus more. I was 500 pounds when I had the surgery years ago.
I would run to do it all again. I got my life back. You will love it maybe not immediately after you have the surgery but you will in about 6 to 8 weeks. If not sooner.  You will be so happy and you will get your cycle straightened out and you will  be able to have a baby and you will be able to carry and deliver the baby a lot easier after you lose the weight.
My two children are grown I had both of them very heavy and it was very difficult. My son was 2 when I had the surgery and we had a lot more fun together  after I lost the weight.
I wish you the best    Sandy
