I am glad that things worked out.  I hadn't looked at the date to see that your post was from a few weeks ago.  What was the bleeding from?  I gather they were ablet to stop it.  I hope the infusions help with the anemia.  Good luck.

I had not been taking iron and called my doctors answering service on Sunday, Dec. 13th. The doctor returned my call and told me to go to Rex Hospital.  After doing testing they discovered that I was bleeding.  I was admitted to Rex and was there 5 days.  They also discovered from a CAT scan that was done there that I had a nodule on one of my adrenal glands.   I was told that my iron level was low and that I would need an iron infusion and possibly another within a couple of weeks after discharge.  Apparently,  they discovered after surgery, that I was anemic before surgery.  Anyway, I'm home now and still feeling very tired.  Working on getting enough protein and liquids.  I'll sure be glad when I get my energy back.  Thanks for responding to my email.

If you are taking iron, then don't worry but if you aren't taking iron - then if the surgeon doesn't call you back soon - go to the ER - you are bleeding in your GI tract.

Black could mean blood from the upper portions of the gi tract. It might be left over from surgery but I would get on that quick especially if you are having increased pain of any kind.

YIKES!

I think the answer is, "it depends" .... what did your surgeon say?

I started having really yucky black runny stools this morning early around 1:30am and I've had about 3 since then.  I called and left message with Dr. Enochs office to call me back but they have not returned my called yet.  I'm thinking that I may have drank too much protein yesterday afternoon and that is what caused this problem.  I drank Isopure Carb Free Protein drink yesterday morning and then in the afternoon I drank one of those bullet protein drinks that had 25 g of protein for 2.9 oz.   Has anyone had this problem since their gastric bypass surgery?
Thanks,
Brenda (Raleigh)

Topic: RE: Lap band surgery
 Hi,

If you are suffering from overweight and looking for weight loss surgery you are absolutely right. LAP-BAND Surgery is the fastest growing surgical options for weight loss now. The LAP-BAND System is usually placed while you are under general anesthesia. While you may be in the operating room for two to three hours, the surgery itself typically takes about an hour.

Thanks
