very good question! I have insurance provided through my work too, but they do not cover weight loss surgery. I have recently received the medically needy cost of sharing from Medicaid. Do you know if they cover the surgery? If so, where do you find a doctor that accepts Medically needy cost of sharing?

The way share of cost works: your share of cost is 1409......you have to reach that amount fax the bill over to Medicaid. ...Once it's documented you have straight medicaid the rest of the month. Each month you have to reach the SOC & fax the documents again to have straight medicaid.

Your 6 months with WW will definitely count. When you meet with your new Pcp Inform him/Her that you're interested in wls. Ask him/her for a referral. You should already have one that accepts your insurance & to expedite time if possible go to a informational session so you know if they will suite your needs. I have Medicaid as well & had surgery 5/28/14.

Hi!! Who did you end up with? How are you doing? :) I am looking at Dr. Marema as my surgeon as well and would live to hear about your experience !! Thanks :)
Hello Shay,
Look into contacting Robert Marema. He does revisions from other doctors. Not sure what insurance he accepts. He is in St. Augustine.

Liza, I am also in Naples and also facing some regain head on. I was 257 at my highest, and 153 At my lowest. But just like you, the bad habits began to creep in again and I found myself up to 191. I am now down 10 lbs. and working hard to keep the carbs way down (I do allow myself 1 fruit a day and complex carbs such as veggies - but not the bread/crackers/cookies I had been eating.)
its ts a funny thing. When w have our surgery, there is a lot of fear that wee face.
And md when we regain, it is even more frightening, plus a heavy dose of shame and guilt comes in.
2 wls friends of mine are complete inspirations as I turn the corner and head back the right direction. One completed the Philadelphia marathon 2 weeks ago. The second just returned from a climb to the Mt. Everest base camp. If they can do those things....I can drop these pounds!
Nicole,
If you haven't found a WLS Support group here in Jacksonville I belong to one that I feel is fantastic and very helpful in keeping me on track. If you're on FB, FR Jody Young here in Jax. She helps run the Jax Support Group 2x's a month at New Life Surgical Associates, 8825 Perimeter Park Blvd. The number there is 904-399-4004 and they could tell you when the next time Jody is having an event.
Welcome to Jacksonville!
