Hi there!
I live in Davenport, the other side of Kissimmee. So I am not too far from you. I'm over near Disney. Anyway, Celebration hosp in Kissimmee is where I am going. They have an excellent bariatric program there. They have their own Phsyche doctor that gives you the evaluation.
Dr Kim comes very highly recommened. He does seminars at the hosp every Wed at 6:00pm
They have good aftercare and support groups. Check it out. I am almost thru my process there.
Prob surgery next month. I had to get a letter from my primary care dr. At the seminar they give you a booklet outlining everything and they guide you thru each step. I'm impressed with them.
I had to see a cardiologist also and he has cleared me for surgery. I don't have any heart probs but it is standard procedure. If you have any further questions don't hesitate to ask me.

I realize your post was 5 days ago. Did you have any takers? I live in Davenport, other side of Kissimmee. My pre-surgery size is 26/28. I'm not offended one bit! I need clothes badly since I am at my top wgt and nothing fits anymore. TY Let me know.

I'm Lyn from Florida. Have not had my surgery yet but it will be soon. Who in their right minds has WLS before the holidays???? LOL But that's me.

Okay, my first post didn't go through, so if this shows twice, I'm sorry.
I come to the Fl board a few times, but it mostly seems to be surgeon questions and medicare questions, none of which I'm interested in. So I would love for the board to become more lively with new topics.
I feel so alone in Northeast Florida. I only know of one other dser and haven't been able to get in touch with her. There is a local wls group but its not that active. I have been to the Orl Dsers and LOVED it, but its a long drive and with small children I can't make that trip too often.
Hope the board gets going better!

Congratulations on your great weight loss. That is some accomplishment.
Dr. Jawad is a very talented surgeon. Are you going to his annual Holiday partyn Dec. 11th?
Good luck if you decide to do the abdominalplasty, I would be too chicken to have the surgery, so I got to give you credit.

Dr. Jawad did my Lap band surgery jan 2009. So far I am down roughly 97 pounds. I have been stable ( within the same 4-5 pounds) since March. I am in the process of getting opinions and quotes for a total abdominal[lasty and possible breast lift.
I am doing well. I am pleased with my results. Ultimately I would love to loose another 25 or so but if I don;t I am happy right where I am...

Thanks for posting, it's nice to meet other Floridians. It sounds as though you are on the right track. Going to the support group meeting s and posting here should give you the support you need.
May I ask how you gained some of your weight back? What type of surgery did you have? Maybe because I am so new that I am afraid of eating things that I shouldn't in fear of dumping, I am staying away from the foods that I think will make me have a weight gain.

Hey Denise, Don't worry about your weight loss, it seems like it's slow but I was at about the same weight loss at 5 weeks. It will come off, you are doing everything by the book. I am 11 weeks out an have lost 48 lbs. since surgery, so see it's about the same we are averaging 4+ lbs a week, that's not bad.
I look forward to seeing you at the next support group meeting. I will try to get there a little earlier to get a seat!! LOL

Topic: Insurance Changing to Cigna
My husband's insurance will change effective Jan 2011. I started my 6 month weight loss process required by his previous insurance Blue cross BS of Alabama. I have to choose between a Cigna ppo 250 Ded, Cigna PPO 400 Ded or Cigna HRA Ded 2400. Cigna does cover baractric surgery. I am unsure what plan to pick.
Does anyone have knowledge of Cigna? Wil I have to statr my 6 month supv weight loss over in January when new insurnce becomes effective?
Any help is appreciated.
