Hi Lyn,
Welcome to the Florida board. When is your surgery scheduled? I think it's a good idea to have the surgery before the holidays because you are forced to stick to the diet, you don't have much chioce. Think of allthe people how want to wait until after the holidays to have the surgery, they will gain between 5-10 lbs that they will have to lose in addition to their initial weight. In your case you will lose this amout ans be that much closer to your goal. I justified that pretty good, didn't I?
Keep us posted on you surgery.

I can't say that I know much about DS, but we are all here for the same reason... To lose weight and get healthy!!!
I agree about the Florida board, there haven't been many topics that I have been interested in that's why I started this post.
I love having the opportunity to meet fellow "LOSERS'. I wish you were closed to Ocala,we have a support group that meets once a month and it's very informative and lots of fun.
Is there any topic you would like to see here, if so, start a new post and let's see if anyone responds. I will add my 2 cents if it's something I know about.

Hi - My name is Kristie. I had my surgery Sept 1, 2010. I have lost 57 lbs since then. I weigh in on Wednesdays, so it may be a little more now. I went through a little plateau after I was able to eat solids again, but I started going to the gym and lost 8-9 lbs that week. It's going slow again, so I am switching the workouts and doing cardio only for 2 weeks. I go t the gym every morning with 2 of my friends and i actually enjoy going now.
I do still have a problem eating some foods, and throw up often, so any advice on that will be helpful. Also, I have all of my vitamins except the iron, and I am having a problem finding the correct one. Any suggestions?
I went to the first support group meeting in October, and really enjoyed it. I plan on attending the one in November also.

I look like a jumbo size Smurf!!! I have my large, long blue bathrobe on and my fluffy blue slippers! What a wimp I am. Would love to put my heat on but I refuse to.

I realize your post is a couple weeks ago. Have you heard from them now?? Hope so.
I just found out that medicare will not cover the sleeve. That's what I was thinking of also after doing much research. I live in central Fl near Disney. There's an excellent bariatric program where I am going in Kissimmee Fl. Sounds like yours. There were tons of people at both the seminar and the support group I attended. I wish you the best.

I realize your post was days ago but I just got to this forum. I don't know much if anything about medicaid but I believe if you are approved and do get on it that you will then be on medicare.
I'm not positive though. Medicare does cover some WLS. The lapband and RNY.
I don't know where you live in Fl but Celebration Hosp in Kissimmee has an excellent bariatric program there. They walk you thru each step. They have seminars every Wed eve at 6.
I'm sorry you are so scared and alone. Post on the main forum or one of the other more active
forums. You don't need to be alone. Take care of yourself.
