What's your name? I'm Jan
Age? 47
Location? Ocala, so it's sure convenient since my surgeon is here too
What do you do? I work every waking hour of my life! I work for Life Care Center of Ocala in admissions and I'm on call whenever I'm not actively working, but I really do love the grandmas and grandpas and their families. I visit them in the hospitals and assess them for admission.
Kids? Not a chance. I'm highly allergic!!!! I was married for 6 years and 3 months, but now have been divorced for nearly 3 years.
Pets? 3 cats - Buster is a moggie who will be 17 next month, Belle E. Button, a seal lynx ragdoll who is 4 and Barney, a blue bicolor ragdoll who is just 2! I'm thinking about a dog, but can't decide!!
Pre-op or post-op? I had Lap RNY on September 8, 2004, while my house was without power from the effects of Hurricane Frances! It made an otherwise dull surgery very exciting!!! HA!
Starting BMI? 45.3 - 240 lbs.
Current BMI? 32.1 - 170 lbs, down 70 lbs. in under 5 months!
I've been exercising nearly daily at the gym, unless work or life interferes, and I've been enjoying step aerobics and all the energy this surgery has given me.
I've also been shopping in my closet and that's been so fun, too.
Lately, I've been a little burned out on the message boards and got somewhat attacked on the main board, so I've backed off some, but want to welcome all the newbies and to warn them about even very innocent comments on that main board!! People are much friendlier on the Florida board!!
Thanks for all your hard work on the Question Of The Day, Amy!! You certainly deserve a rest!!
HIYA, Is Dr. William Todd Overcash your doctor? Isn't he the greatest surgeon? Check with site as well:

Christeena works for Dr. O and has this support group. Stay in touch with us!!
Wow, Amy you will be greatly missed! But as you mentioned you deserve a break from us. I got started late in the game but I have enjoyed your postings very much. In addition, the people that have replied to this posting are as interesting and as varied as can be! How very wonderful!
ok, enuf rambling...
My name is Anna Smith, I am 31 y/o and I live in ft lauderdale. I am from miami (a dying breed of florida natives) and I am a paramedic and have been for over a decade. I also teach and write (fiction and non-fiction). I have one child, a precocious five year old son who is my heart! We have just adopted a retired greyhound named, Bones and he is soon to be joined by another retired greyhound named Honey!
I'm afraid I am pre-op with no real hope of getting this surgery. My starting BMI was 50 in 2002 when I started trying to get this surgery, in 2004 my BMI was at its highest, 52 (funny how I speak about my weight like its seperate from me and has a life of its own!?) and now its somewhere between 50-51. I have commited myself to a healthier lifestyle and daily exercise (which my greyhound is helping me get!) and setting the example for my hubby and son, who are both suffering from weight problems.
Oh yeah, and I'm married to my dearest and closest friend (after all who else could love and hurt you more than you ever dreamed possible?) for over 7 years now and stronger than ever!
Well, I look forward to seeing all of you on this message board!
I must go now, I'm going to a Josh Groban concert tonight and I have to work a miracle to look beautiful!
Love u all! Have a wonderful weekend!
Hi Everyone,
I would post more but was kind of attacked on the main board and really never posted much since.
Well here it goes...
My name is Terese. I am 43 years old. Post op Lap RNY (8-19-03). Starting weight 297. Today 165. I am bad about checking my BMI...but I think its around 26 or so. I am waiting for insurance approval on a tummy tuck and thigh lift. (The breast aug and lift will happen also...in due time)
I am a VP for a trucking company. I am married for 24 years to Bill. No kids but we have two cats...Lucky and Hazel.
We moved to Tampa 3 years ago from Chicago (and we will never go back)
I LONGGGGG to find good friends in the area with my same life experiences. It is very hard to find friends (I don't like to mix work and friends...it never works) when you don't have kids and you weren't born and raised here. Don't get me wrong we have made friends...its just hard to make great friends when everyone is so busy in the day to day life.
Thanks for all of your great posts. I truly enjoy reading all of them.
Take care
Terese
