Need some honest answers
My occupation really won't allow me to be out of commission for more than two weeks. Am looking into surgery with Dr. Jawad in Ocala. How long did it take folks to get back into the swing of things. I basically sit at my desk all day long, producing a magazine -- some of which I can do at home.
How long did it take you to get back to work?
Ted,
I know many who had lap with Jawad and were back at work within 2-3 weeks. I went back after 3 weeks and worked 6 hr/day for that first week, then back to full time, but I had Open RNY with Overca****hink it really depends on how physical your job is, how much energy you have, your pain tolerance, etc. There are lots of variables. If they will let you do some work from home, that would be ideal so when you need to relax or nap, you can do so.
Just my two cents...
Hi Ted, I had lap with Dr. Jawad and attempted to go back to work at 3 weeks but, it ended up being too soon so I went back at 4 weeks. The difference between you and me though is that my job requires alot of physical activity****upational therapist). I think I would have been OK to return to work at 3 weeks if I had a desk job. Everyone's different though so, it's really hard to say. Best of luck to you

Hi Ted,
I had my surgery 2 weeks ago with Dr. Jawad. And If I had a desk job I could definitely go back to work. I also have not had any complications with my surgery either. I do a lot of walking around the neighborhood and I'll come home and need to sit for a few but not to the point where I need to nap. Now this is only speaking for myself and I have always been a very active person. I wish you the best of luck on your decision.

I took me about 8 weeks to bounce back to the point I could acctually function at work at all. I too have a cushy desk job! I was told by my Doc that I was an extreme case, most patients are good to go before that. Everyone is different! Don't forget about F.M.L.A. (Family Medical Leave of Abscense.) By law, it allows you to keep your job being out for up to 12 weeks!!!
Good luck,
Vivi.

Hi Ted,
I has my surgery on 12-28-04, i came back to work after two weeks. I also have a desk job, but it helped me to keep busy instead of being home not able to do anything. I will be honest though i still have a little pain, but i can tolerate it... .The best advise that i can tell you , is pay attention to your body, that will be the best way for you to know if you are ready or not... Good Luck!!!!
