LENGTH OF TIME FOR APPROVAL FROM INS. CO.

I was just wondering how long it normally takes an insurance company to approve or deny surgery once all documentation has been received by the insurance co.? It would be even a greater help if someone can tell me about Humana? Thanks for your help.

I was approved within two days, but I didnt have Humana last year, although I have them now. Many times, you can follow up with the insurance company and get a timeframe after they receive all your paperwork. Good luck!

I had UHC and it was about 3 weeks. Your best bet is to look through the Insurers link on the page and look up the comments on Humana. It may give you a good guess to go by. Good Luck!

It took my insurance company 10 months, but that was with denials and appeals. The good news is that I don't have Humana. Good luck to you! Kristen

Well sense some of Tricare Prime is part Humana and BC/BS of SC I will answer but not sure it will relate to you. My papers were approve in hours, at the most maybe 2 days. I was to the surgeon on 11/29. By Dec7 the files went to the insurance dept at the hospital. I got a automated call on Dec 16 advising me of approval. Good luck with your approval..my surgery date is Feb 8.

Thanks everyone for being so helpful and giving me your experiences. I really really appreciate. I guess I am just anxious and was hoping it didn't take that long. I have already been waiting for a week. I called Humana yesterday and they told me that the status is "pending" and that there are no comments as far as needing more documentation. So to just wait til the end of this week or next week and then give them a call. Thanks again everyone. I shall continue praying that it does get approved...
