Liquid diet questions? 1 week post-op
Hello everyone, I hope you all are doing well. First of all I got my JP drain removed today
. I had very bad shoulder and back pain with it in.
I was hoping that someone may be able to list a few things that they liked when you were in this full liquid diet phase and how you prepared it. I have been putting salt on the meats, its the only way i can stand it. I have been eating baby food meats (w/ salt), jello, popsickles, some broth, and of course protein shakes through my G-tube they seem to make me gag now for some reason. I did eat the plain yogurt but I had to put some jello mix in it for taste. I just can't stand the plain foods that I've been given a list of to eat. My hubby has made most of my meals for me and now he has to go out to sea for 6 months (Navy) on Wed. I'm already feeling all alone and scared that I'm going to eat the wrong thing.
I'm so scare to get sick, so far I've been able to keep everything down.
Please help if you can.
Thanks, Stephanie
If I eat cottage cheese do I have to puree it? And what about pepper, can the stomach handle it?

Thinking back when I was on full liquids, I did creamed soups (low fat usually), fat free/sugar free pudding (the mix, not the pre-prepared) and I added no flavor protein powder to it. If I recall, I think I got away with some mashed potatoes and refried beans from Taco Bell (add the taco sauce to it to help mu**** more). Protein drinks are a must. I was bad at not having them, but they really do sustain you.
You can eat whatever spices you want. It depends on your stomach. If it didn't bother you before, it may not do it this time either.
If I can think of anything else, I will let you know!

As a military wife and mother i've been alone alot. And my husband works all day and i'm still alone all day. You need to keep your self busy and exercise or just do someting. That's how I past 25 years being a military wife.
