Exercise Check
No, it's not another Q of the D, but I am off today (MLK Day) so you guys get to deal with this extra time on my hands
!
What are you doing to make sure you have a healthy looking body along with your weightloss? Losing the excess weight is great, but do you want to look like a bag of bones when you get to goal?
So, what are you doing to exercise these days???????? If you're not doing anything, fess up and let us know why.

Well, in the beggining I was walking relentlessly... then I dropped it, then my WL slowed down a lot!! Wonder why, hah?! Besides weekly horse back ridding lessons and a walk here and there, I have not done much. So I finally realized I had to do something and started up with a personal trainner.

Amy,
I'm still pre-op (8 days to go) so this may not count, but I've been in Physical Therapy 3 days a week for my back since mid November. I started out 2 days a week in the pool & 1 in the gym, now I'm up to 2 days in the gym & 1 in the pool. When I'm in the gym I walk 15 min. on the treadmill in addition to about 45 min. of back strengthening exercises.
After surgery I plan to return to my back P.T. exercise routine and walk as much as my back will allow.

Funny you should ask, but I just bought a treadmill yesterday! I started walking months ago, but I developed a problem with my foot. I was advised that treadmills are easier on your feet and joints than pavement, so I'm going to give it a shot! I am still in appeal with my insurance and its not looking good but my family is pulling together to start loosing weight and living healthier. As a matter of fact, my five year old son is on the treadmill now!
My husband also purchased some videos that we (he and I) can do together to keep our physical fitness entertaining and learning new self-defense techniques. We're all excited and eager to start!
THere is a weight lose program here in Clermont called "Choose to Loose"
Some of the aspects of the program don't apply to us at this point....but may in the future. There is dietian support and a 1/2 hour work out 3X/week with an exercise physiologist. I started it in August (2 mo Post-op) I had to stop because of a back injury and uncontroled BP.
I am hoping to get released by the Dr. to start again. My appontment is tomorrow and I'll know then.
With the scheduled appointments with the trainer, I felt that I had to be there and that not on;y had I already paid for it, but that I could mess up someone's schedule by not showing up. I think it added another layer of responsibility that made me go.
It is pricey... But for me it is worth it.

I am still walking some but not like I was. Does house work count?
Actually I stay active all day. doing things I haven't done around the house but I know I need to do better. I have the "bat wings" and the drooping belly (not to mention other things drooping
) Guess I better get busy.
Amy? do you have some suggestions?
Maybe I better get on this weight bench my DH uses and lift some weights.
Carol
