Celebration Support Group

Hi! I had RNY 12/6/04 in Jupiter. I live in Polk County and its not possible for me to get down there for the support groups. I know that Celebration has a support group. To attend, do you have to be a patient there? Please let me know - I could really use this.

Hey Isabel, I, too, live in Polk County. And YES everyone is invited to the support meetings at Celebration!!! They are on the Second Wednesday of each month. Info sessions start at 7:00 and the support meeting starts at 7:30. A group of us usually go into Celebration for a "night cap". You are welcome to come if you like. To get there, take I-4 and take the US192 exit towards Kissimmee. At the first light, make a right. At the next light, make a right. You will see the hospital about 1/4 mile up the road on your left. When you walk through the front door of the hospital, immediately turn right. Go down that hallway and you will see conference rooms to your left (just past the restrooms). Just pick a door....that's us!!!

Isabel, I didn't have surgery with US Bariatrics either and I went last week to their support meeting. It was beneficial and I'm glad I went. Some of the discussion in the beginning was geared more for their own patients, but after that it was more "generic" discussion. I feel support groups are imperative to helping us not only for when we get stuck or need advice, but also to help hold ourselves accountable. Doing this on own own is easy in the beginning but it is supposed to get harder the further out we get. I hope you can squeeze in the time to get involved in a support system, you will benefit from it in the long run. Amy -137lb.

Hey Kristen, Yup, Vivi and I came in a few minutes late and then moved to the breakout group with Dr. Ferguson. I'm sorry I missed meeting you too. It was funny though cause my hairdresser had come for the info session and I ran into her there with her husband, small world Well, maybe next month a few of us from the board can hook up before the meeting and meet in person.
