Okay, i haven't had the surgery yet... but i do have dry skin ****asionally) what works for me is... after i've taken a shower (do not towel dry) while you are still very wet use baby oil.... it holds the moisture in and actually beads the excess water off your body, i do this in my bathroom while standing on an old towel to catch the excess baby oil/water, i would not recommend doing this in your shower because it will make the shower floor VERY slippery and could cause you to slip and fall... hope this helps.... it really has done wonders with my skin.... baby butt smooth... Diamond, After you shower, blot off the excess water, but don't actually dry all the way off. While your skin is still damp, slather on your favorite moisturizing lotion. You may also need to begin using a lotion that is for made for dry skin. I always have a problem with dry skin in the winter when the heat is running. I've begun using Aveno (?) with oatmeal lotion and it realy helps. Good luck! Vickie J.

I use Dove exfoilating scrub every day, I use the Dove liquid wash first for dry sensitive skin, unscented. You don't need to use both, its just a crazy habit of mine. Only thing I do after I get out of shower is lightly pat dry and use my regular skincare for my face and I do not need a body cream exfoilating daily or every other day. If you've never tried it, please do you will be surprised how fast that dead skin goes and your skin will be fresh as a babies. I do use a cream on my feet with shea butter every night before I go to sleep. I walk with out shoes in my house all day and I have tile and marble and that does a number on my heel and side of my foot. If you want a good lotion, Eucerin lotion is good, unscented as well reccomended by a skin specialist.

I've heard this happens after WLS, but I haven't noticed it with myself. I think the suggestions others have offered are good, I would add that if you are going to get a new body lotion/moisturizer, you might want to consider getting a firming kind. Many on the other boards and at some of my WLS meetings swear the firming lotions help with firming the loose skin during their weightloss. I haven't done a good job using mine regularly so I can't give you my testimonial, so it is only hearsay. Good luck- Amy

I have the same problem. Not on my face, but on my arms and legs and especially my feet (they are peeling!). I use a scrubbing sponge. It's a sponge on one side and a scrubber on the other (made for the body of course), I got it at CVS. Then, I use some sort of an exfoliating cream. Apricot scrub works well. THEN, after the shower, I pat dry and use Gold Bond moisturizer. It's super concentrated. Just keep scrubbing! It will eventually even out. Also make sure you are keeping that lotion on and drinking plenty of water. It will hydrate your skin.

my sister never had WLS, but has VERY dry skin, since she started using baby oil after she showers (without drying all the way) she can no longer notice any dry skin at all!! I'd try it. I have not noticed any dry skin yet myself. I guess the fact I feel as if I were going bald is all I need to worry about right now!! Vivi

I am pre-op, but I used to have dry skin terribly on my face, especially around my eyebrow and nose areas. I have had NO problems at all ever since I started using Pond's creme moisturizer. It comes in a milky white container and a blue cap. There are trial sizes they sell at walgreen's so you can try it out first. I put it on after I pat my face dry after a shower and before any makeup. Then I put it on my face and neck before I go to sleep. My face looks awesome and my complexion is fantastic. Hope this helps!! -Phoenix
