so I will ask here. How long are you normally in the hospital for a hernia repair? I am Dr. Tenewitz's patient here in Melbourne..if that helps. I never thought to ask this question and now all my friends and family are asking me about it. Thanks. Char

Char, I dont know the answer, but it probably is good for us to know more about hernias anyway, hopefully someone will chime in with their experience. Amy -137lb.

It varies...I know some people who have it same day surgery even with a TT. My surgeon will do hernia repair and TT and said she will keep me longer than she keeps her WLS patients...they have surgery on Tuesday and released on Thursday, she didn't say exactly how long I would be in she probably wants to see the results of my tests before she decides. I sure wish I could be having the TT along with it. My surgeon charges an additonal $3000 for the procedure and I just don't have the $$$. Not like I have a huge panni. Mine would be more for vanity reasons. I am hopefully starting a new career this summer and I hope to someday be able to have several PS procedures. It is a shame to have the WLS and be left with hanging, wrinkled skin afterwards. IMHO it should be a package deal. You get the WLS and when at goal get your PS. Char

Char- Did they try to get approval for the TT?

I never even bothered with it since I was told $3000 over and above what the insurance pays.

BTW, I'm not definately getting a TT, that is the plan, no insurance approval, yet. But I am lucky that my surgeon can do both, so no extra surgeon fee. She said there is a nominal fee they have worked out if insurance won't pay. My insurance has a pretty well worded exclusion, but I have medicaid and hope they will cover it since it is definately medically needed. Insurance says no go on panni or TT despite medical indications.
