Potassium level still low

Has anyone had to have their surgery canceled because of low potassium levels in their pre-op blood work? I've had two blood tests and so far my potassium has been 3.4 on both of them. I have another one on Monday the 6th, and my surgery is Wednesday the 8th. I point blank asked my doctor if the low potassium level could cause me to lose my surgical date and he wouldn't answer me. I take two diuretics to help control my high blood pressure. This is why the potassium level is so low. I take an 80 mg potassium supplement and have been on it for a week and it still hasn't raised the levels.

My level was low after surgery and now take a pill. But that keeps it where it needs to be.

Call the doc & ask if you can double the pills. If not - eat foods high in potassium. The only ones I can think of for sure are bananas but I think green leafy veggies (spinach, asparagus, broccoli, kale, collard greens, etc.) are also good ones. Vickie J.
