United Healthcare of Fla is terrible

Hi Betty, I am so sorry to hear of your problems with UHC and your employer. However, after reading all the post I thought I would add this. I have UHC and had no problems. My surgery was approved in less than a week. My psych exam was paid for UBH (United Behavorial Health) and I they did know it was for weight loss. They paid for all of my tests and so far so good. I just had my surgery last Monday, but all my pre-ops, etc. are already paid. However, my husbands employer does not have an exclusion to the policy. You only have to be diagnosed as "morbid obese" period.

Hi Terry, It is my employer that chooses to exclude wls. At least I can be glad that you got it done. I found out Thurs I have psorasing arthritis and I can get rx's for enbril. My cost will be $35 for one month but UHC will pay over $1000. for 2 shots and I have to take 2 a week so for my $35 a month. I get 8 shots and UHC pays $4000. per month. It would have been a lot cheaper in the long run to pay for wls to aleviate the arthritis pain. I have to call the dermatologist this week to let her know if I want to go the shot route. I am seeing the orthopaedic doctor Tues to make sure he agrees that I have arthritis. Keep me informed of your progress. Thanks, Betty
