Freaking Out!

How wonderful! Your therapist probably experienced the exact same emotions and can help you from personal experience. That's great! I posted on the boards that my father died two days before my surgery (I am 7 days post-op). I had a tough time getting emotionally and mentally prepared for the surgery. Before "show time", my surgeon reminded me that I can always postpone if I am not ready, that it's not a big deal. He offered to postpone for just a week. Maybe ask your surgeon if that is an option? For me, having that option took a *lot* of the stress out of the decision. It cleared my mind somewhat, and I was able to make a sound decision. You're in my thoughts and prayers. Kristen

I Totally understand where you are coming from, I read the memorials one night. But look at the dates and alot of them were for other reasons. The single most complication immediately post op is pulmonary embolism the way to avoid that is get out of bed and walk, walk walk.... Just remember your higher power whomever that may be will be walking with you.... and everyone on this board will be praying for your health...

Thanks so much for the support Chris! We'll be here for you too, I hope I'm as calm as you when I'm as close to my date as you.

This past summer I took off of school to spend it with my kids...just in case I didn't make it. I wanted them to remember the fun we had, but now we are having more fun The day I left for surgery I cried telling my mom to make sure my kids are taken care of. Before my surgery Dr. Overcash asked me how I felt, I said a little nervous...he said that is how I was suppose to feel, if I didn't there is a problem. These are all normal feelings your having. You will be fine...and much healthier after the surgery. Tracey -67

HI Shayna.... And believe me, I know exactly how you feel~! I am exactly a week away from the "big day" and I have my moments. A week ago I was freaking out because I really felt like I was going to die from this surgery. But now, although some of the fears are still there, I have a little bit of peace in knowing that this was my last choice. And that I am not doing this as a easy way, but for me to live a more "healthy way". I wish you much success, and I promise, I will fill you in as I go along. Be blessed Jae
