There is no question in you staying strong, you won't have a choice. LOL  If you have made it this far and made the decision to have the surgery you wouldn't do anything to hinder it.

My motto is "Embrace the Journey", take each day as it comes and be fore we know it we all will be slim and healthy.

Hello and Welcome Tami,

Congratulations on your surgery.  This is the begining of a whole new lifestyle.  I hope you enjoy your journey to the new you.

As fr sleeping a lot, I did the same thing.  I guess between the surgery and being off from my job, I just needed the rest.  This will change soon.

There are a lot of very knowledgable people on this site, don't hesitate to post a question or concern.

Hi Donna
I had my RNY in April of this year and have so far lost 102 pounds.  I don't get on here much because I don't have much to say lol.  I didn't know Dr. Jawad was having a party, how do we go about finding out the info. I guess if I went to the meetings he has then I would know.  anyways, just wanted to say hello

Hi Tammy,

You have done great.  I can't wait until I hit the 100 lb mark.

I know what you mean when you said that you don't post because you have nothing to say, I feel the same way.  If I had any questions, it seems like somebody else had the same question and they asked first so I would just read the responses, but this has been great that so many people have responded to this post.  I have met so many new people including yourself.

As for Dr. Jawad's Holiday party, if you go to his website jawadmd.com and go to the support page the invitation is there.  This year it is being held at the Elks Lodge in Ocala on Dec. 11th.  If you decide to go you have to RSVP to [email protected] and let hem know of your meal choices.  the invite is for the patient and one guest.  This will be the first one that I am attending but I understand he throws a great party.  Everyone gets dress up, I guess to show off how good they look.  It sound like a good time, hope you can make it.

Hey Donna! I RSVP for the party after the meeting. So, definitely I am excited about the dancing all night. My husband graduates fire school the day before so this will be a continuation of his celebration also.
I will have to stop being shy at the next meeting and walk up to you and say hi. lol

I guess you and your husband will have a lot to celebrate.  It sounds like it will be alot of fun.

I look forward to seeing everybody at the support group meetings and seeing how much weight they have lost.

I will try to look for you at the next meeting.

Hello everyone!

I am new to the site and am scheduled to have the gastric sleeve on the 22nd of this month.  I am looking forward to the holidays where I won't want to overeat!  My mother and I are both having our surgeries on the same day.  She is having the bypass.  We are both very excited.

I will keep you all posted on our progress.

I am still figuring out how to maneuver around the site and how to set up my profile.

Looking forward to meeting you all, although I'm in the Orlando area and will be going to Dr. Jawad's Orlando meetings.

Hi

I am an oldie who has become new again....I had the RNY in 2000.  Yep, 11 years ago.  I lost a total of 175 pounds and kept it off for about 5 or 6 years.  I am gaining weight now and what worked for me at the start  no longer works.  I have moved to florida and am in the process of trying to find a good doctor to discuss my health and possibly to revise what needs revising...I have been lurking here for a few days, trying to get a handle on how this site is set up (I used to come to OH a long time ago, but things have changed, lol)
I have been through just about all that a person can go through with this surgery, living through the post op period, the honeymoon period when the weight falls off on its own...the plateaus, the lessons along the way, the transformation into this newly refurbished person who, like Rip Van Winkle, all of a sudden "wakes up" and has to navigate in a new world where relationships of all kind change, clothing, hairdo, even shoes need to be re-fitted...because the shock of that newly small person you see in the refection on the wall is REALLY YOU and not just some random woman, lol.
The curious feelings of  no longer having to try to "fit in" in social circles....because you are now  accepted without question by the very same people who would walk on by without blinking,  just a few short months prior....learning how to not get too crazy with the new found freedom and lifestyle it presents...AND remembering for the rest of your life, despite the smaller body and the healthier lifestyle, that you are always, a surgery patient and to keep up with your health and your nutrition ....because the further you get out,  will be even more important that your nutriion will be.

I am coming back to the place I relied so heavily on when I first had my surgery....I wandered away from this site, as I imagine all of us do, once we are on our way and getting out of the house and going after all those things we watched from a distance...and now that I am coming to terms with the re-gain, I know I need to come back to my roots...get back in touch with who I am and  come back to what worked for me.
SO, here I am.  I know a lot about all of this as I lived through the years with it all...yet there is still a lot to learn for me and hopfully, through you all, I can learn more...
