The sound you hear

Is the sound of my head hitting a brick wall. I need the surgery. I want the surgery. I have no insurance. I cannot seem to find a way to finance the surgery. I will be eligble for Medicare in July of 05 but cannot find a MD that takes it. GAD Any suggestions out there. I am having all the tests and consults done just because I INSIST I WILL PREVAIL. But I would love an encouraging word from out there. I have the support of my cardiologist. And the indifference of my internist. my best to all pre and posts out there. DJ

I know of a few people who have gone the Vocational Rehab route. If your weight and it's comorbidities are preventing you from doing your job or impacting how well you do it you may qualify. If you do they pay 100%. You must find a surgeon who is a Voc Rehab surgeon. Fortunately, the three people I know of are in Pinellas County and are using my surgeon. Good Luck. Don't Give Up!! Julie

I don't really have any answers. I have heard some of the board have used medicare so I am sure they can tell you where. What I wanted to say was my insurance wasn't taken in the area I am in but, like you, I was determined. I am traveling over 5 hours for surgery but when you find one that will take your insurance, you go there.soooo.....don't give up. I still haven't a surgery date but I am real close. Everyday has seemed eternity since I made up my mind to do this, so I know you feel frustrated. Just keep venting on this board. Believe me, these people are the greatest at pepping you up. Hi Dianne, My husband Omar and I are both on Medicaid and our surgeon is Dr. Raul Rosenthal at the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida. You might want to inquire at Celebration Hospital. There is a Dr. Samuels who I think at one time accepted Medicare. In Miami, at Jackson Memorial, Dr. Patricia Byers is supposed to be good also. Hang in there. It will happen for you.
