Age Check
Ok folks, how about an age check for those of us say 59 and older.
1. Date of surgery
2. How does your body handle food?
3. How was your healing time?
4. What was the first great thing you did for yourself after surgery?
5. Long term goal.
Marla
1. 8/3/04
2. Must keep with doctors plan.
3. Body seems to be doing OK at 3 weeks. Tired some days, some want to run the streets.
4. New hair style.
5. Walk and talk at same time.
Marla, I am 53 and am checking in to answer your questions.
1. 3/9/04
2. following all the food rules, chew and small portions
3. no problems with healing, back to work in 6 days,
4. went to running camp to learn to be a runner, now running 3 miles each morning (weight is just falling off with the running!)
5. keep healthy! no return to the fat life.
Hi Marla,
I am home from surgery. Each day gets a little better, although I had a very high fever, ended up in ICU longer than expected and spent 5 days in Hosp.
I just turned 56
surgery was 8/18/04
not handling water very well( no food yet)
still healing- 2 veins were blown out on my hand and wrist and I have a lot of pain in those sites. staples from incisions come out on Fri.
Had a massage and facial day before WLS, afterwards, it was to take a shower and sleep in my own bed
i am 5'6" and i'd like to get to 150lbs and I am right there with you on the walk and talk issue.
All the best and thanks for the questions
Deanna

Congrats on being home. I to spent 3 days in ICU with high temp, never found cause. Frankly, I do not remember hospital except for last day.
Just take it easy. Drink as much as you can. It does not have to be all water. Gatorade is great, as well as apple juice.
You just wait, when you put on your pants and they are baggy in seat, you will be so proud.
I could use a massage myself. Only problem, can't lay on tummy. One day soon.
You take care,
Marla
