has anyone over the age of 50 had this done, and do you know if anyone of any age has died...

HI carol, That was my sister on the computer and she does not know how to work it well, I had my surger march 1st and I am 47 today, i did just fine and so will you, she is having her surgery next month and is scared to death, she thinks because she is 54 she is going to die, but if she does not have it she will die even sooner..with diabetes and everything else that is wrong with her... but i was scared to death also but to tell you the truth..i have lost 80 pounds in 5 months and feel so much better...and so will you. take care and thank you suzan

I'm 54 -- had the surgery 12/15/03. I'm at goal. Feeling great. Off all medications for high Blood Pressure. No more acid reflux. More energy than I've had in years. That should be an encouragement to the 54 year old surgery prospect. God bless. LuvitsunnyV

There is nothing unusual about having WLS done over 50. Most WS surgens stop around 60 or 62. There is a whole message board for WLS patients over 50. It's in the "communities" section. Check it out. Kallen
