Your wisdom is appreciated
Laurie,
Welcome to the FL board. I can't give you any feedback on those doctors, but I am sure others on here can. Info sessions are great because you can learn so much about the surgery and hopefully meet post op patients of the doctor. I went to four before I made my decision. Talking to post-ops helped ease my mind. GOOD LUCK and keep us posted on your progress.
Amy

HI,
Can't comment on the Wish Center. I know of two people who used Dr. Rehnke and were happy with their outcome. The surgeon I know the most about is Dr. Haicken. He will be doing my surgery. He also presents seminars on the surgery etc. You can also find out about him etc on his web site. I have known of Dr. Haicken's surgical skills for 20 yrs and feel very fortunate that he will be performing surgery on me. Good Luck in your search. I am sure you will find a surgeon you are comfortable with.

Hi Laurie:
I have a wonderful friend who had her RNY with Dr. Renke 3 years ago. Her post op care and nutrition care left her with a lot of questions and difficulties. She had the surgery at Ed White Hospital and also suffered from a staph infection. She is currently looking into another program as she has "eaten" her way to a larger pouch and has had a significant weight gain.
A college friend did remarkably well with Dr. Haicken, some complications, but disliked the hospital, Morton Plant in Clearwater.
I was researching as well as my PCP for a surgeon who had a good success rate with super size people, with minimal complications if any and had a superior pre op and post op program. He sent me to Dr. Dietrick at the WISH Center in Tampa. I was shocked at first but I would not change 1 iota of my care! I have had no complications and I would tell anyone to research and go to the seminars and ask former patients. Read all you can on this message board.
Take care and make the best decision for yourself!
Tina
