Food was my life: what now?

I had surgery 6 weeks ago. I now realize how food had been my whole life. Now I am almost afraid of free time. I hate my days off from work now. Has anyone else found this to be such a problem? I knew there would be adjustments I would have to make, but this is bigger than I thought. Lizz

Lizz, you need to find something to do with your time. Arts and crafts, excercise, puzzles, games, anythig to keep you from thinking about food. If you keep drinking your water and keep busy, you can break that dependency on food. Good luck

You have to reprogram your "head" relationship with food. It's funny, but I went through a spell when I wanted something to eat, yet nothing was right. Then, I was thirsty and could never find anything to quench my thirst. I think it was my "head" hunger. It will get better -- at least for me, it did. Good luck. luvitsunnyv

I did Optifast several years ago and fasted for 3 months as part of the program. I was given a journal type thing and I wrote in it religiously. One of the things I noticed was that my life also revolved around food and after food was taken out of the picture, I suddenly had all kinds of time to explore new interests. I'm hoping it will be the same way this time and that active things will grab my interest.

Hi Lizz, I am 8 weeks out and I keep really busy with my kids and with work. I go to the gym alot, so I really have less free time now then I did before. Just keep active and drink lot's of water and you will get through this. Good Luck!!!! Keep up the good work. Christine
