Has anyone had problems with BC/BS Blue Choice? I was told today that the 6 mo wt loss thru MD has to be within the past 2 yrs. I have the documentation but it is well over the requirement of the 2 yr mark. This procedure will not be covered after 1/1/2005. Can anyone help me with this and a way to get around it. It is the only thing holding me back.

Hi Angela I am going through the same situation. I was denied from BC/BS PPO because I didnt have 6 months of MD weight loss supervision. So I called company they where very clear that they want with in the 2 year a 6 month supervised weight loss program by MD. So I started in May and I am on one now the diet pills. So hurry up and get started on one u only have untill end of this year that insurance company will pay for surgery. Keep in touch with me!!!Good Luck!!! sarai

Hey there... seems like we all have the same problem with BCBS of FL. I am completing a 7 month one with my nutrionist this month. She wanted me to get an extra month in so They would not have a foot to stand on. I say foot to stand on........I still plan on coming backl to her while I am getting ready for surgery..... Dont feel bad.!! Just jump on this wagon quick before the 1 of 2005 gets here! Becky

Becky, What i'm pissed-off about is backi n Nov 03 when i was checking things out i was told there was no timeframe for the 6 mo thing. now that my paperwork is going in they tell me there is a time frame. If i knew that there was a time frame i would have already been going to the MD. Angie

OMG guys.....I called insurance today to see if a nurse practioner would be ok for the wt loss or if it had to be a doctor. Ms. Belcher told me I was approved. I couldn't believe it. So now I am waiting on a date. Will keep you all updated. Thanks for all the emails. I appreciate it. I am a nurse so is anyone needs anything do not hesitate in contacting me.
