SLOW LOSERS...PLEASE READ...RESEARCH YOUR PROTEIN INTAKE
Hi,
I have been doing alot of reseach about protein because I was told to get in at least 75 grams of protien a day, or more. I am a slowwwwwww loser. 9 weeks and -33 llbs. Which I am proud of since I know it's gone for good. But I was just wondering why so slow. I walk about 3 miles every other day, and or at least 1.5 miles in between. I told my practictioner that I was losing soooooo slow and I was doing everything right. That he told me. I told him that I was getting in over 125 grams of protein a day, and he said WONDERFUL, however I check out a few things. Some are in a little book called. The pocket protein counter. The Doctor gave me this on my follow-up visit from my WLS. I was just lookin up my calories, but then I started reading. DID YOU KNOW YOU ARE ONLY SUPPOSE TO HAVE THE PROTEIN INTAKE, THAT OF YOUR GOAL WEIGHT? How to figure this out? Here is what the book says.
To Determine how much protein you need each day. It is one gram of protein per kilogram of your TARGET weight. Determine your target weight and divide it by 2.2, that will be your target weight in kilograms. That is how much protein you should be taking in. For me, my target weight is "121" so my target weight in kilograms is "55" I should be taking in 55 grams of protein per day, not 100. The excess protein is simply stored as fat. Which in my case is why I am losing sooooooooo slow. I am trying it. And so far I've gone from 2 -4 pounds a week to, almost a pound a day. I've only done it 3 days. Ive lost 2 and a half pounds. I know the post is long but hey I just wanted to share the knowledge
Best of luck to all and God bless your every endeavor,

It may not be, because of our mal-absorption rate. Which I have to find out about. But I tried to eat more and that was one pitiful week for me. I had the blahhhhhhhs for the whole week, and when the scale was still in a rut I drank some fiber and got back to what felt right to me. REMEMBER. This is simply something for you, or the board to research for them selves...an FYI so to speak.
Love to all...

RJ,
I would like to find the protein counter book. I also have read what you were saying about what is needed to lose. It does depend on each persons own system. I wish you continued sucess. My doctor warned me some people do lose slower then others. I am going to figure as long as it is down I am going in the right direction.
