Anyone have any opinion about United Health Care Insurance? I already had WLS but will need hernia repair and extensive plastic surgery about next summer. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I have a choice between an EPO, HMO, or Choice Plus plan.

Hi Sarah! I have UHC EPO and have checked into that very thing. I, too will need a hernia repair and plastic surgery. The insurance company has told me that because it is medically necessary it will be covered and my doctor has reassured me that he knows how to get it covered. I am very comfortable with them.

What is an EPO? I've heard of PPO and HMO, but an EPO is one of my choices, the best choice as far as premiums go. The other choices are HMO or Choice Plus, but CP is about $170 a month and no way can I afford that.

I have United Health Care PPO. We are so very glad we chose this policy over the others at open enrollment. There is no written exclusion for WLS, and if plastic surgery is medically necessary thats covered as well. It took less than one day to get my approval for the WLS. Michele

Saw your post on United Health Care. When did/does your policy renew? I inquired about coverage and upon renewal or our policy in April, the surgery states excluded. This was not an exclusion of my employer but of the company. I am 62 y/o and want desparately to have this surgery. Looking forward to hearing from you. maryanne
