Waiting on insurance

Great news. Saw Dr Haicken yesterday and now I just have to wait on insurance. It is really up in the air as to whether my insurance will cover as United is really starting to crack down on this. Fingers are crossed. I am determined to have the surgery with or without insuranc approval though. Has anyone had any luck with insurance approval from United Healthcare's Choice program?

Julie, I have United Healthcare Choice HMO. My surgeon submitted the information on June 9, and I was approved June 17. I think it all has to do with what your employer wants the policy to cover. I am a teacher and know of several teachers in my district who had this surgery done this school year, plus I called UHC and asked specifically if wls was covered under my plan. They said yes, and my letter from them approving my surgery makes it so. Good luck to you. I hope your journey goes as smoothly as mine has gone thus far. Stephany
