Pre-Op eating Frenzy!!!!
Jennifer,
Not to worry! For me, it definitely was a psychological thing. Food was a very good friend of mine for so long that I was afraid it was going away forever. But I was so glad that I got to say a formal "goodbye" to so many treats that are definite no-no's now. I did put on weight from the time I knew I was researching surgery right up the time just before surgery. My feeling was - enjoy it while you can! BUT - I also knew that I had that much more to take off. Am I glad? YOU BET! I've worked really hard for those extra pounds, but I got one last sense of comfort from a lot of food. That helped in the first few weeks when food besides liquids is a no-no.
Take care!

Oh do I relate! Every time I eat something I will not be eating after WLS, I morn the loss of a "friend". Food has been my comfort and love when no one or nothing else was. Food is our friend and "lover", we want to enjoy our last flings, so to speak. So say good by with love and enjoyment. On the other side, we will find a new friend and love of our life...a healthy and thin person.
