Update on Laurie Honaker..
Im a friend of Laurie's and tomorrow I go in here in Texas for a VBG. Laurie had her bypass on the 15th in Pensacola. She has not done so well. She has had a rough time and been sedated and on a ventilator since not long after surgery. She had some leaking and had to have a total of 11 units of blood. From what I have heard she is doing better now, they are trying to get her off the vent and out of sedation. When they tried this morning her blood pressure shot up, so they decided to wait and try again this afternoon. No update since then. There are 30+ of us that are all friends and we are pulling hard for her to get past this and get home. I hate going in tomorrow where I wont be able to keep updated on her. She is so sweet and I hate she is having this hard of a time. Im sure it is just a small setback for her and soon she will pull out of it and be home.
Please send her your thoughts and prayers and lets get her home!
Erika L. They tried yet again to take her off the ventilator (not good) her respitory and BP went really high. She was thrashing about and even at one point they had to bag her because she could not breath.
They had to give her one more unit of blood today. The surgeon keeps telling them that's it's OLD blood she's losing but her mom is not at all convinced.
The have called in a blood specialist because her blood platelet counts keeps dropping.
They have taken her off the one drug that basically keeps her paralized.
They are going to try again tomorrow to take her off the ventilator..
Her mom did say the few times they have taken her off the ventilator and she has been some what alert she has not responded to anyone but Tammy (her sister) and then today her dad!
