I was looking in the Florida Times Union today and noticed that there will be a seminar for April 5, 2004, 7pm Ramada Inn Conference Center (I295 and San Jose Blvd) Free admission, 1-888-571-4100 to reserve your seat and it's with Dr. William Todd Overca**** has a website listed for further info as floridabariatriccenter.com. I am still in the researching stages, and haven't yet picked a Dr., and thought this would be a great opportunity to learn more. Plus I'm taking my boyfriend with me so he can learn with me, since he's not real happy I'm considering this. Anyway, just thought I would let everyone know

Great to see this. I am having surgery with him on May 6th but I can come up with a new question every day. I want to go. I'll see if I can get the day afternoon off. See you there. Jody Thanks again.

I hope to have my surgery done by Dr. Overcash too. I am still working on my testing. FYI: There is also another seminar this Wed, 3/31 at 7pm in Altamonte Springs at the Embassy Suites with Dr. O. I am taking my sister so she can learn more and know all that it entails since she will be helping me initially after surgery. Good luck, ladies! Amy

Hey Kim M, I also went to Dr. Overcash's office in Ocala for a consult. Then the next day I went to the Auditorium at Memorial Hospital here in Jax. The next one is on April 6th @ 7:00 p.m. - the doctor is Yasrebi. He is doing my surgery that morning! So I hope you will be there. I feel it is very important to compare the two. I don't want to influence you, I would rather you make up your own mind. But, remember that Dr. Yasrebi is local and also has an excellent patient history. You can look up both docs on this web site and read their patient's reviews. Good Luck on your journey!!!!! Laurie

Thanks so much, however Yasrebi isn't covered by my insurance.

What insurance do you have? Are you sure? He has started taking Aetna again. It won't hurt to go to the seminar anyway. Laurie

Laurie, do you know what insurance Dr. O expected. Did you find all the doctor's deposit to be about the same. A. green

Althea, Dr. O wants $500 regardless of what your insurance may pay. If I remember correctly that was not refundable, meaning if your insurance copay was only $250.00 I don't think you got the difference back. But, I am sure his seminar will clear all that up for you. Now as for if all surgeons expect the same amount - I don't know. Dr. Yasrebi doesn't require any deposit, but it could be that because of my insurance - there isn't one. And as for what insurances he takes, I think just about any of them. I do know that they require you to be on a doctor supervised diet for 6 months before they will even file with your insurance company for surgery approval. Hope I was helpful. Laurie

Laurie, I have BCBS Empire. I looked up in the dr.'s directory and Yasrebi wasn't listed. What's this about a deposit? I've not heard about that. Kim

When I 1st started looking into WLS I attended Dr. Yasrebi's seminar. I was impressed with him. My wife is a surgical nurse and said he is good but like you I have Blue Cross and he is not a provider. His nurse said they wanted $11,600 up front and insurance would only pay $1000-2000. I started looking around for a good surgeon that took Blue Cross. After a lot of searching I decided on Dr. Overcash and I'm glad I did. I am down 82 pounds in 4 months and have had no complications other than a few foods that didn't agree but that was earlier. I can only eat small amounts but can eat most foods. I haven't been hungry and have had no cravings. I used to sit down and eat 1/2 gal of ice cream but now am satisfied with a sugar free fudge bar. Dr. O's office asked for a $600 deposit which is refundable after any charges that are not covered by insurance. Blue Cross paid most of my hospital charge, all of Dr. O's charges but only part of his assistant's charge. I was not planning on attending his seminar but I'll call his office tomorrow and see if there any seats left. Gary
