I have an HMO - blue cross / blue shield health options. Has anyone had this insurance and what was your experience with them

Hello again, I have BC/BS (Traditional) I had my surgery 12/16/03 and the insurance paid 100% of the hospital, anesthesia, but not my surgeon. I had to pay for my surgeon which was $7,500.00 and I'm still waiting for the reimbursement. I have no idea how much BC/BS will reimburse me. The only reason I had to pay for my surgeon is because he is not a BC/BS participating Doctor. If your doctor is, you should not have out of pocket expenses. BUT!! I heard BC/BS is discontinuing paying for WLS in 2004. So you might want to check this out before you progress to far. and good luck. SnoJo
