Hi, I know I want the surgery after 34 years of struggling with my weight. I live in Naples, FL and I have Florida First insurance. Can someone please help me get the ball rolling.

the first thing you will want to do is speak with your primary care doctor, then your insurance company. They both will let you know what steps you need to take after that. kathy~

Hi, Kathy, I went through my insurance policy coverage to see if it was covered, and what the requirements were for the surgery. Then I sat down and thought about how I could prove all their requirements. I know most people go through their primary doctor about the surgery. My PCP doesn't know or understand about it. But, my specialist for my comorbidities wrote letters that I would be okay for the surgery. I had a cardiologist, gastrointestional & I'm not sure about the others. When I went to these Dr.'s I told them I was having the surgery and I needed their help to show my health could take it, and I would benefit from it. I did not approach it with,"Do you think I need this surgery?" . I never went through the PCP because I knew he would not back my decision. Good Luck to you. Cindy
