Has anyone used Barbara Corell?, I can't get her to return my calls to make an appointment, who should I call?

I have heard from patients at Dr. Haicken's WLS support groups at Morton Plant that Barbara Corell is good, but that she's very pushy about selling the supplements etc. that she sells. I used Nadine Pazder, R.D. at the Morton Plant Hospital. It was covered by my insurance (except for a $50 copay). You might have good luck with her... Just call Morton Plant and they can give you her phone number. She works out of an office in the hospital. I liked her a lot.

hello, i need help i am in the panama city area . i have been thinking of having this surgery a very long time studied on it over a year ect. i kept to my self as i struggled for weight loss . i have been on so many diets including my own doctors diet and also his perscription for water pills . i just keep gaining .. my doctor believes in the starving affect and i mean no food period . i have no thyroid and so at times i have been on such massive doses of thyroid meds in the last year even took 3 different pills combo at once that i should be a walking stick . then my doctor sent me to a specilast a wonderful caring doctor who saw me several times and tested me ect . on my last visit to him HE BROUGHT UP gastric bypass with me .he told me i had to do it to save my life even if i had to go out of town to do so (due to insurance) he talked to me about this in great length . he had me call a doc in alabama and try to get approvel from my ins . i have been happy thinking there may be hope after all after all i been thinking of this a long long time . well i went to my pcp yesterday as i do every month from monday until then i gained 3 more pounds . i told him what the other doctor said he said NO WAY NO NO NO NO WAY I WILL NOT SUPPORT THIS YOU NEED ALL YOUR FOOD TAKEN AWAY AND YOU WILL NOT GAIN YOU WILL LOSE AND HE HAD THE NERVE TO ASK ME IF I SAW ALL THE POOR KIDS ON TV FROM ETHOPIA THAT THEY HAD NO FOOD AND COULDNT EAT AND I SEE HOW SKINNY THEY WERE AND I SHOULD DO THE SAME NOT EAT NOTHING PERIOD .....THEN HE GAVE ME THE ROIT ACT ABOUT HOW BEING OBESE ALSO WAS NOT GENETIC THIS WAS AMERICAS PROBLEM NOW HOW THEY BELIEVED THIS THEN STATED HOW HE WEIGHS HIMSELF EVERYSINGLE DAY AND IF GAINS 1 POUND HE DOES NOT EAT NOTHING FOR DAYS . boy i was so stuned OH i weigh 263.5 at 5"4 then last he had the nerve to tell me if i got to 300lbs that he might think of giving me support then that my weight wasn`t bad at all and with starving i would lose the weight so go home and stop eating ........ i am so upset i don`t know what to do i need his records and a support letter from him to. what do i do ?please help and email me at [email protected] to thanks

You are entitled to your medical records. You just call the office and tell them when you want to pick them up. (You may have to pay a copy charge.) You need to change PCPs. Find one that is supportive of what you, the patient, wants. As for needing a letter from him, maybe not. My PCP is very supportive and offered to write a letter. I am having my surgery through the Wish Center in Tampa and they prepared all the information for my approval and did not get a letter from my PCP. I was approved 2 weeks after they sent the paperwork in and am scheduled for surgery on March 16. I did have to provide them with my medical records from my PCP and from my cardiac doctor. Breathe Deep!!! This man is a QUACK.... with webbed feet and all!! Does he tell his Diabetic patients to "Just make more Insulin" Does he tell a parapalegic to " Just get up and walk" THis is not a matter of will power,not a matter of want, it is a matter of life and death. Get a new PCP. Please!!!! One that cares about you and your life, not his own agenda. GO to the specialist you saw and ask for a refferal. Or ask the specialins in Alabama. Dr. Darkages must send your records to another doctor if you request it. That's proffesional and HIPPA. Please do Not let this man continue to torture you with his barbaric attitudes. There are people out there who want to help you and will. At some point we must all take control of our healthcare and force people like him to treat us with respect. I don't think you'd get it from him..... But after you leave and write a nice informative letter to your insurance, maybe he will be forced to rethink his commitment to healthcare. Patsy, I saw Lonna Forss, I was very impressed with her. She works out of Dr. Haickens office, but does not work for him. She has a private practice, but uses his office a couple times a week. Her review is on my profile. Good luck
