Plastic Surgery

I had WLS on 10/20/03. It has only been 4 months and I am down 102lbs. I know it is still early, but I am curious about the insurance companies paying for the plastic surgery procedures after the weight loss. I can already see excessive skin on my arms, legs, lower stomach, and breast. I have Aetna, and wanted to know if anyone has gotten insurance coverage to pay for the procedure?

A lot of the ins companies will pay only if you prove medical necessity, things like, you are getting rashes or sores due to the excess skin. If you do get any of those, TAKE PICTURES because they are going to require them. Your best bet is to call your insurance company and see if they are covered benefits or not. That way you know for sure. Stephanie

Thanks for your help. I will call Aetna today and see what I will need to do.
