Help with insurance approval for revision
When I started considering WLS in August 2003 the first thing I did was to call my insurance carrier BCBS PPO of Florida to find out if WLS was excluded in my policy. I was advised it was not excluded. So since I plan to use Dr. Haicken I started having the numerous tests he requires. I finally completed the tests and submitted my paperwork in October 2003. I was denied in November 2003 because I did not have documentation from my PCP proving I had attempted 6 consecutive months of supervised weight management within the last two years. I continue going to my PCP for a monthly weight in and finally was able to submit the paperwork they wanted. I was denied again. This time they say I was denied because I had gastroplasty in 1986. Seems they'll only cover WLS once in a person's lifetime.
I'm wondering if anyone has gotten approval after being denied because they had WLS before. If so please email me with details at [email protected]
