UHC Obesity Surgery excluded??!!??!!...Help

Hi.... I was just reading my coverage and it states WLS is excluded! Has anyone had WLS excluded and still gotten approval??? I'm worried about this. I thought I was good to go, since I've heard such great things about UHC, even from the surgeons office, I guess I never considered I might be denied. If anyone has anything to add, I sure would appreciate it Warm Regards, Carol

I have a UHC policy, and just got approved. Under my hubby's policy, they said they would NOT pay for a dietician, but would for WLS. It took an appeal, and the surgeon and his nurse getting on the phone with them before they would approve it, but they finally did. I know policies are different within the same insurance comp, but wanted to offer what happened to me. I pray you get a great outcome!!!

Some policies have a clause where it will be included if you have co-morbitities. Have you actually been denied by UHC? Sometimes the surgeon's office know how to get around these things. Good luck to you.
