Hi! I am in the beginning stages of my wls journey. I am curious if anyone out there has Neighborhood Health Partnership insurance? I am on their plan (POS) and would like to know if it was difficult getting approval. When I called their customer service department, I was told that the surgery would be covered if "medically necessary". Please advise.

Hi Rosemary. I don't know about your insurance. I do know that you have to be consistant with any insurance company. My PCP submitted a letter stating that it was a medical necessity that I have the WLS. I have 2 insurance policies. One approved right away. The other denied me twice. I appealed their decision, and they did end up covering the surgery. Keep good records. If you can get a copy of everything that is being sent to the insurance co. That way you can understand what they ask for or need to begin the process of deeming the necessary treatment. I wish you lots of luck, and I will include you in my prayers. Brenda
