Stupid Question

And I know it is, but I have to ask. Years ago, I remember being told to remove my nail polish before surgery because the anesthesiologist would check the color under my nails to make sure I was OK. The reason I'm asking is that I have acrylic nails and I need to know if I should let them grow off. I don't have a date yet, but I am proceeding with confidence..LOL Actually, I was ashamed to ask the Dr.'s office...thought it might be considered "premature." Robin
