Anyone been to wish center Tampa, Florida
I know they are not officially open till mid July, but I have seen the wish center seminars being advertised. First thing, I am excited that they finally are going to have a facility that does Lap here in the Tampa area. I did not want to go way out of the way, and in fact that is one of the reasons I have not had it thus far. Second, Has anyone ever been to Town and Country Hospital?

I Attended their semiar last friday at the airport and found it very informitive. Supposedly they have a little better success rate for keeping the weight off, and they also said you'd only be in the hospital for 2-3days, which again is a little shorter than most.
They are out of plan for all insurance companies, therefore their expensense may not be covered or perhaps they along with the hospital would be covered at a reduced rate.
They wouldnt answer any questions about cost, but did give a number that you could call to discuss cost.
The WISH Center stands for Weight Intervention Surgical Healthcare Center. Their website is www.wishcenter.org. They have an incredibly low mortality rate...about 1 in 1700 patients vs. a national average anywhere between 1 in 100 or 1 in 200 deaths. They are starting to be in network with certain healthplans. For example, they now accept Medicare. They are out-of-network with other insurance plans which means if your plan allows you to go to an out-of-network doctor they will most likely cover visits and surgery by a WISH Center doctor. The hospital they use is most likely in network on your plan. One unique thing they offer which is rare for gastric bypass is a payment plan arrangement based on your credit worthiness. You can either finance a portion of the surgery costs of what you have left that your insurance didn't pay or if you get denied through your insurance you may qualify for financing the entire balance of the program from the beginning through surgery including the hospital stay.
You have to first attend one of their seminars before you can set up an appointment. This is not unusual of many bariatric programs today where you will have to attend some sort of orientation or seminar first to learn about the surgery and whatever process to get to surgery with that clinic. The WISH Center program involves a 10-week program to prepare your body for surgery and reduce any potential risks. It is really unique in that no other place I've heard of goes through the extensive education involved in teaching the patient how to cope with both the physical and psychological aspect of life after gastric bypass. Tehnically you can go to any surgeon who is capable of performing the surgery, but the The WISH Center team has a well-rounded program with professionals who specialize in gastric bypass including dietitians, exercise physiologist, psychologists, nurses, and insurance specialists.
