INSURANCE QUESTION

HELLO EVERYONE I HAVENT BEEN IN OH FOR OVER A YEAR. FINALLY AFTER YEARS OF TRYING TO HAVE SURGERY I NOW HAVE FREEDOM HEALTH HMO THRU MEDICAID.

HAS ANYONE HAD SURGERY WITH THIS INSURANCE OR DOES ANYONE KNOW IF IT PAYS FOR THE SURGERY, OR ANY DOCTOR THAT TAKES IT.

I don't have Freedon Health, I have Wellcare. I had a lot of problems finding a surgeon that takes mine. What I did do is a search for baractric doctors in the whole State of Florida and started emailing everyone - first the ones close to me, then I spread out from there. I live near orlando, and there are many of them here but no one would take my insurance that had the requirements I needed (I am on medicare, not medicaid).  I found one in St. petersburg (2- 2 1/2 hours away). I wrote an email and asked if they took my insurance and they said yes, then sent me the requirements for what my insurance looked for before they approved it.

I would suggest calling your insurance and asking  if they pay for it and what their requirements are - medical records, etc,. They should be able to tell you if they will pay for it. Mine pays 100% except for my co-pay for a specialist, nutritionist, psych., and the doctor's administration fees.

So give them a call. Oh do let me say, try to get the CPT code (a common code for Roux-en-Y gastric bypass is 43846. but may differ. there is a diffeent code for open and lap RNY as well as Lapband) for whatever surgery you want because my insurance told me when I asked that I didn't need anything to just go have the surgery. I am not for sure what you are having - lap or rny - but you can do a search and find the codes that the insurance company can easily look it up.
