Here I go again.....

Ok, as some of you know. I've had a terrible time with Aetna approving the Lap RNY surgery for me. I hired an Attorney to help me after being denied TWICE!!

My Attorney faxed over a 19 page letter to Aetna yesterday and emailed me a copy of the letter. The Attorney told me NOT to get my hopes up, that Aetna more than likely will deny me again...before the Attorney's really pile on the information.

I have a birthday coming up (1/26) and I really want to have surgery on that date. I'm really counting on the Attorney's help, so that I can reach that goal.

PLEASE CROSS YOUR FINGERS FOR ME!!!!!!!.......I'M HOPING THAT SOMEONE WITH A HEART AT AETNA WILL APPROVE ME.

I went to my doctor appointment today and found out more news. I went to get the results from a blood test and Pulmonary Function Study that was done last week.

WELL............ I was diagnosed with Diabetes (type 2) and in about 1 hour from now...I'm leaving my house for a Sleep Study. My doctor thinks that I have Sleep Apnea as well (this should be real fun). In the morning, I'm also going to the hospital for a Glucose Tolerance Test (appt at 8:45am). So after doing the Sleep Study and running my boys to school and then running to the hospital to do this test.....which is about 3 hours long.....I should pass out in a hardcore sleep around 1pm.

I'll go back to my doctor next week for these tests results also.

How was the sleep study? They arn't THAT bad. With Diabetes and sleep apnia that should give you more ammo to shoot at the Insurance Co. Good Luck and Have a Merry Christmas. Hope to see you at the next meeting (with good news).

I couldn't sleep at all!! I had a really hard time falling asleep due to the fact that I'm a tummy sleeper and I had to sleep on my back with all those wires. I got the results today though.....I DON'T have sleep apnea. I was thankful for that! Now, I have 1 test left.....GTT.... and that is on this coming Thurs. morning. I'm hoping that I can get the results of the GTT test quickly (within a day or two), so that I can fax the results to my Attorney's office. Then the Attorney can plead with Aetna to give me the surgery.

Yesterday I went to Quest Labs and did the GTT. I hated it! I got stuck 4 times (3 hour test). I checked my sugar level last night around 9pm and it was 218 (which is kinda high). I didn't feel good at all yesterday either, I kept feeling like I was going to get sick. This morning, before coffee or anything....I checked my sugar level and it was 147 (which is still kinda high). I have my doctors appt on Tuesday at 11am, for the results.

I got word from Aetna a couple of days ago that they are still upholding their denial for approving my surgery. We were expecting it though. So, our next step is this.......(my Attorney has already done this) we have filed for an external review with Aetna.

I just don't understand.....I have High blood pressure, now I have type 2 Diabetes (this is new). What next? My sleep apnea was negative (I knew it would be).

This is getting depressing!

I also live on Space Coast and have Aetna insurance.  I was hoping to have the surgery in the next few months.  What is the reasoning Aetna is giving for denial.  I have diabetes also and have bad knees.  I've been trying to find a doctor and get my primary to cooperate with the paperwork.  I had hoped to decide on a doctor and have their insurance specialist get it through
Aetna.  I see they have denied you several times.  I may need the name of your attorney as well.  I just wonder for now what basis are they denying you on?
