I'm an Angel?
Today was a very full day. I have a patient who has surgery who has a significant physical handicap, and she was literally being dropped off at the hospital for surgery this morning at 6AM. I just couldn't "allow" that. I mean, who would? My office manager helped me to work my schedule so that I could be with this patient until her surgery, and Dr. Kim helped me to get into recovery, etc. It was as emotionally exhausting as if I was having surgery again (even though I got to meet her very hot anesthesiologist!)
I was just thinking about this patient again. Now, don't get me wrong. We are all special. This person would have been okay by herself, I am sure of it. But I am glad that I shared this person's surgical experience, just the same. As I sat here tonight after speaking with the patient in her room I realized - it was my first angel "duty!" But ... it was more honor than duty. I know that I am not making any sense, but I am feeling as though I shared in something profound today.
I highly recommend the experience.

Kristen-
I had an in-person up close angel when I had my surgery in Omaha. This woman was wonderful and what she did for me and my DH (who did not accompany me to Omaha) was so special -- I just cannot put it into words. Consequently I know the effect an angel can have on the WLS experience. Thank you for being there for this lady.
