I had a vertical banded gastroplasty in 1989. I need a revision & would like to find a doc & support group close to home. Would appreciate any advice. [email protected]

Judith, you may want to contact Dr. Rosenthal's office at Cleveland Clinic in Weston, just west of Ft.Lauderdale. They are very good. They have a website that has all the contact info. Good luck. John

Hi Judith, www.DrWizman.com My surgeon, Dr. Paul Wizman, MD, performs lap scope RNY, Lap Band, Gastric Sleeve and revisions. He's highly regarded in the medical community as the best at what he does. Please consider attending an open group meeting. His website's calendar shows a meeting is coming up next Tuesday: 05/22/2007 @ 6PM in Margate, FL. It's a suburb north of Ft. Lauderdale and just south of Boca Raton. He also personally hosts our monthly support group meetings on the 4th Thursday of each month. Once you hear him, I'm confident you'll do yourself the favor of selecting him. He truly exhibits a spirit of excellence. His program has an extensive 5 yr medical follow up, whi*****ludes comprehensive support programs: emotional/medical/support groups, etc. He's very hands on. Take care, Write me with any questions you may have. Best of wishes, Kim Boca Raton, FL

Thanks Kim. I still do not know what I want to do. The first surgery was done in California (LA) . Recovery was a long process. One I do not care to repeat. I still have the band in place. t's always made it hard to eat certian foods. Get tense & almost everything creats a problem. It's going to take alot of thought. I do not know if I'm even elegible because of my age (just turned 65). Insurance is a big question. Thanks for the support. Judie Delray Beach, FL

Hi Judith, I would like to encourage you to consider attending the open group next Tuesday night at 6PM. The directions and a map are on www.DrWizman.com website under the heading of calendar. You're right, it's a really big decision with a lot to be considered. I've found it's comforting to have as much detail info as possible when I'm facing big decisions. Dr. Wizman is very careful to answer all questions raised in his meetings. He will take the time with you individually at the end of the session, if you have private concerns. He is the medical director of his practice: Bariatrix and he has been designated as a Center of Excellence with Northwest Medical Center in Margate. (If medicade maybe an insurance option for you.) His program incluldes a comprehensive 5 yr follow up with support groups that he personally facilitates. Come out and see him on Tuesday night for the info session or/and also attend the Thursday night support group session. The monthly support group meets the 4th Thur of each month (May 24) and the first session begins @6PM for new patients up to 6 months post op, then the 2nd session for 7months -5yrs starts @ 7PM. The third session is for Lap Band patients and begins at 8PM. You're welcome to attend them all, if you can sit for a few hours. I recommend it, because you'll really begin to get a feel for what this man can do for you. You'll see a room filled with proof of his work & hope for your future health... Best wishes! Kim Boca Raton, FL
