Hi All,
We live in ga and we are moving to orlando in may. We heard about a tax increase and dont have to pay property tax. does anyone know if this is correct and if so when will it take effect?? i have a feeling that if it happens the home prices will go up because alot of people will be moving to fl. does anyone knoe if this is going to happen and if so when??
thanks so much
It is not all that it is cracked up to be in my opinion. The sales tax will go up substantially. Then one will pay more for everything you buy. Think about having everything you purchase (except medicine and food) go up 3% or so. Not only that think about the difference 3% can make when buying a car or other big ticket item. There will a strong lobby from the retailers to keep this from coming about. Florida is crowded enough and our precious resources are dwendling every day we do not need legislation that is going to bring an influx of people to our state. More people, more need for social services, more need for law enforcement and fewer resources to go around. Plus once the people get here all they do is complain about how much better it is up North. They complain about the wages, they complain about the prices, heck they even complain because we have no snow at Christmas. Nope we do not need this.

My understanding on this is that it will hurt people that have more than one home and can only file homestead exemption if they LIVE in this state while owning multiple homes.
Either way, something has to be done and I'd hope they come up with a compromise that will benefit the tax payer and not developers...they are the greedy ones.
