Anyone have Avmed as their Insurance?

I have Avmed as my health insurance and I'd like to know if they cover WLS. :deal:

Andrea I have Avmed and they are so far covering everything. I do not know what plan you are on but I am an employee of the State of Fl and apparently have one of the best plans offered. When I first started this process I called the 800# and got a list of the criteria to be met and I have working that list. I hope this helps.

Hi Daniel, I work for the County of Miami-Dade in Florida and I heard Avmed has different types of health insurance. I read in my health book the exclusions and WLS is one of the excluded ones. I heard that the federal insurance for gov jobs do pay but the county one doesn't. I called Avmed myself and I was told that my doctor (PCP and/or surgeon need to provide additional letters directly to them). I guess there must be different packages. It's all comfusing for me. Which 800# did you call because I've called a few. Otherwise, I will have to wait until next year to get Cigna. I have no other choice right now. I'm meeting with my surgeon on March 6th and my PCP tomorrow Feb. 28th. Let see what they tell me. Andrea
