Tell me about outside of Tampa area~~!!~~!!
Hi! I am in process of moving to the Tampa area, hubby is transfered to the airport and was wondering about neighborhoods near Dunedin , New Port Richey. I am currently looking @ Realtor.com but finding very basic stuff, and would love some input on schools, and so forth. Any information would be valuable to me and ThankYou in advance for any replies!!
Hi Melanie~
I am fairly new to Florida as well and we live in New Port Richey.
I work right by the airport and it takes me about 30-40 minutes to get to work.
I like our area a lot. It is a new area and actually it's name is Trinity, but a lot
of people still consider this area New Port Richey. However, all of the sub divisions around here are new and the schools are excellent. Dunedin is very nice too, but a lot
more expensive. Also, Pinellas and I think Hillsborough county schools have a school choice program. Which means you get 3 choices of schools, but you are not always guaranteed to get your first choice school because the computer picks it. I have heard from many that it is frustrating because you can live on one side of the county and your child is bussed to the other side of the county for school. Pasco county is the county New Porty Richey/ Trinity is in. Check it out on the web, it is very nice around here and it is all new. We live in a sub division called Long Leaf and it is a Great "family" neighborhood. It is off Rt 54 on Starkey Blvd. Good luck....

Yes...Trinity and New Port Richey are also very nice. In fact I now live in New Port Richey, however my kids are grown and gone. Of the two, Trinity would probably offer the best educational sources. I still stand by North Pinellas as the best school system, having researched the topic myself many moons ago! Also, I believe statistically, NP ranks pretty high academicly within the state, and overall, higher than any other geographic area in the Tampa Bay area.
When I moved to Florida with young children, I moved to the Countryside area of Clearwater - a very short distance from Dunedin and Palm Harbor. I made that move based on what was statistically best education-wise for my children. Countryside housing was high, however Dunedin is very reasonable, and very nice as well. Trinity has lots of young families, but can also be a bit pricey when compared to homes in Pasco County, but probably equal to or lower than equivalent homes in Pinellas County.
Hope this helps!

Hi Melanie,
I live in the Carrollwood area and I am about 15 minutes from the airport. We live in an excellent neighborhood and my daughter is in a fantastic school. All the schools we are districted for are A schools for the past several years. You do not have to participate in the choice program, that is a totally voluntary program. I have my daughter in the school where I am districted. The neighborhood I live in is Country Place and we love it. Great neighbors, quiet, lots of families. Good luck to you!
