I am having the RNY with Dr. Lord. At first I was going to have the LapBand but I didn't believe I had the self control needed for this procedure. I am the type of person that doesn't eat BIG portions of food. I just eat ALL the time and I eat junk. Anyway, I have been seeing Dr. Lord for about 5 months and he is great. I hopefully will have my surgery in the next month or so. I have done tons of research and ask tons of people and from what I have heard he is the best around. He hasn't had any deaths and oly 1 leak which was during his training. You can view all of his stats at www. sacred-heart.org. Also, he has a wonderful office staff and a great support system in place for his patients. So far, I am pleased. Hope this help. P.S. His support group meets the first Wednesday of every month at Sacred Heart Hospital. You can go even if you haven't started seeing him yet. At the next support group meeting they will be bringing a covered low-fat dish to share, any clothes that don't fit anymore to trade, and sharing proteins and vitamins. I thought the proteins and vitamins would be good to check out even if I can't trade clothes yet. Good luck with all of your decisions! Stacey

Thanks for the info. I am going to the seminar next Tuesday, just to check out all of the details regarding the surgery. Right now, I want the lapband, because of it being non-invasive and I just can't imagine the finality of cutting away some of my internal organs. With the lapband, at least it is reversible if there are complications. I have read some horror stories online about the rny and I am just scared after hearing all the problems that some people have had. I know the results may not be the same for everyone, but for me I don't want to take that risk. In the end I may have to as I seem to continually have health problems come up. I have hypothyroidism, high blood pressure, high triglycerides, feet/joint problems, and beginning to have sugar problems to name a few. I may have to take a risk in the end and have the rny, but for now I feel more comfortable with seeing the lapband procedure and trying to go for it. I am just praying that if it is God's will then my insurance will pay. I have BCBS Fl.

Toni, I am angel to Angeles Love, Dr. Lord did her surgery Thursday morning 11/9, I havent talked to her yet, but I heard from her husband that she did very well. She should be home on Saturday, if you want her opinion, check out her profile and email her, I'm sure she'd be glad to help.

I had a rny with Dr. Lord 11/9. I was home by Saturday, and feel great. He is very thorough and his office staff is great. They are readily available and before he does anything, the patient is very well informed.

Thanks! Why did you choose rny over lap band? I go to the seminar tomorrow. I'm looking forward to start the process.

I chose RNY because I was not a canidate for a band due to my hiatal hernia, (found on EGD). Also I suffered from severe GERD and it was not guaranteed to help my GERD. J.
