Need help/advise/opinions!!!
Hi guys!! Ok I need some help/opinions/advice. I had my revision to RNY on 5/31/06. Now I knew going into the revision that the weight loss would be slower then the normal RNY but I am totally frustrated at this point. It's been quite sometime since the scale has moved. I don't know what it is that I could be doing wrong if anything. I get in my protein, around 80g a day, sometimes more, eating around 800-1000 calories a day, I go to the gym 3 to 4 times a week, I walk everyday for at least an hour a day and on the weekends the hubby and I usually go for a bike ride (well for the past few weeks we haven't been able to do the bike riding). I get in plenty of fluids over 150oz a day, I take my vitamins religiously, the iron not much so but my labs came back perfect and Kevin said whatever I'm doing it's working and to stick with it. I know that we all hit stalls along this journey but man oh man is this totally frustrating. Anybody have any ideas on how I can get the scales to start moving again??? Is there something that I'm not doing right??? I thought maybe if I could get some input from you all it might help!! Sorry for the long post but thanks for reading!!

JoAnn,
I don't know your background, what was your previous surgery? And you didn't say how much you've lost in the past 5 months or so. Sometimes our expectations are not realistic. I do know that sometimes when weight loss slows down you often find that you're still losing inches. What does your surgeon think of your progress?
Since I didin't have a revision, just a 1st time RNY I don't know that I can help you much, but I do know that for me, at 5-6 months out, I was only allowed about 600 calories a day. Are you tracking your food on something like FitDay.com? Are you limiting your carbs and fats? It sounds like you're doing OK with protein & fluid, but you might want to look at where your calories are coming from. A good rule of thumb is if you can cru**** in your hand you shouldn't be eating it (chips, crackers, pretzels, etc).
I wish you luck!

Hi Vickie!!
Thanks for the reply. I had the lap band put in 7/13/05 and had it removed (for medical complications) and revised to RNY on 5/31/06. I've lost around 65lbs so far. I've lost a lot of inches too along with that. I went from a 4x in shirts down to a 1x and from a 26 in pants down to about an 18. But nothing has happened in a month so I'm just totally frustrated at this point. My doctor wants me around 1000 calories a day at this point, and I know every doctor is different and every person has different needs. I'm not much of a carb person I get around 30-40g of carbs a day and usually around 30g of fat. The doctor thinks I'm pretty much on track for a revision. Its just really frustrating when nothing happens for a month. I know it didn't take me overnight to gain this weight so I know in my heart it's not going to happen overnight to get it off. I was totally on the pity pot yesterday!! LOL!! I just thought well maybe I'm doing something wrong. You read all these posts where people are losing left and right and you're standing still and it's just plain ole frustrating. I try really hard not to compare myself to others, it's just hard not too sometimes ya know??
Thanks again so much for your response!!
Jo Ann

Dear Joann
You need a big hug. Im only 3 weeks out but I totally understand what your going through. We are so afraid that its stopping and the rest of the weight wont come off. Let go and Let God. Thats been my mantra but sometimes its hard to follow my own advice.
Just know I am Dr Jawads patient too and he would not steer you wrong. Just keep it up and you will see miracles. You are doing quite normal and IM SO PROUD OF YOU.
jUST TELL ME HOW DO YOU EVER GET IN ALL THOSE FLUIDS? iM NOT DOING WELL BUT MAKING SURE ITS 60OZ BUT SOMETIMES IT ALMOST MAKES ME SICK.
OOPS SORRY CAPS
hUGS CAROLE
Hi Carole!!
You are too sweet!! Thanks so much for your reply and all of your kind words of encouragment, I sure did need that!!
3 weeks out huh?? Good for you!! I'm really glad you decided to take the plunge for a healthier you!! How are you holding up?? How is the G-beast treating you?? I found it to be more annoying then anything else.
As for the fluid intake you will get there. I'm not much of a sleeper, I'm usually up around 3:00-4:00 in the morning on most days so it's not that hard to get in all that fluids. I've also been a big drinker. I guess it has to do with having diabetes for over 15 years. I've made great progress with that too!! I was using over 300 units per day now I'm down to 17-30 units per day. I'm on an insulin pump and I'm hoping someday soon I'll be able to take that off forever!!
Again Carole thanks so much for your reply!! Let me know how you are doing and keep in touch!!
***hugs***
Jo Ann
P.S. Are you going to Dr. J's Christmas party??? Do you attend the monthly support meetings in Orlando???
