Anyone use Dr. Murr/Tampa?
I am getting really close to getting a surgery date with Dr. Murr, and was hoping to talk with his patients prior to the surgery. Lucy told me to logon to their website to "find and chat" with other patients of his, but his website is virtually non-existant...
I am looking to have him do my band, but would love to hear ALL stories (RNY, LapBand, Etc.)!
Bring it on! Thanks!

Here is a Brandon/Valrico Support Group ran by pateints. Virtually everyone was, well almost all used Dr.Murr & his associates. It's a yahoo group so you'll need to join to ask questions.

Hi Arial! What a beautiful name by the way! I met with Dr. Murr on 8/28, and at that time, he said he'd only done 25 bands, and that scared me! You must have been 25... lol. I wanted to talk with other bandsters too, in order to see how he is with fills and if he is living up to what Lucy said (availability, appts, emergencies, aftercare type stuff).
Did you have any complications or other issues with him or the band? Have you had a fill yet? How was the hospital stay- Tampa General/nurses treated you ok and such?
Thanks for taking the time to talk with me!
Jo

I did not know that Dr. Murr had only performed 25 lapband surgeries, had I known that I don't know if I would have gone to him. He has such a good reputation, everyone in the health care profession speaks highly of him. That is what impressed me, because anyone in healthcare knows the individual's true ability, talent and their patient's outcome. However, I am glad I selected Dr. Murr because I had no complications, my surgery was only one hour, I had a pleasant hospital stay, I had surgery on Wednesday and Thursday I was on my way home. I have gone to my follow-up appointment, everything looks good and I am scheduled for my first fill in two weeks. The first day after surgery I was in alot of pain, but the medication took care of that, the only thing I experience now is I burp alot. But I think burping is common. Everything will be O.K.

Jo,
Dr. Murr did my RNY surgery on 08/09, I am from Orlando and drove to Tampa for my surgery. My father in law is a GI Dr and recommended Dr Murr by reputation. I drove that far because I felt safe with Dr Murr. I know he does over 300 surgeries a year, Im surprised he has only done 25. I had no complications at all and think you are in good hands with him.
Best wishes on your surgery!
