Topic: RE: Muscular atrophy

You need to find a way to meet with a physical therapist at least once, to give you some home exercises you can work on. This is a serious medical issue which must be addressed by a medical professional. See your doctor first because the muscular pain and issues may be a symptom of something else. If you can't open a bottle of water, your ADLs (activities of daily living) are compromised which is very serious.

Monday - nothing - daughter 2s birthday so family stuff.

Tuesday - 1 hour with trainer

Wednesday - 2.5 hours fencing

Thursday - 1 hour pilates

Friday-Sunday - miles and miles of walking, running and yelling. I'm coordinating a conference for 500 people so I'll be a mad woman.

Have a great week everyone!

I do something I love, so its not "exercise". I fence foil 5 hours a week. When I don't fence, I'm grumpy and antsy. I also compete - probably on a monthly basis. All the other training I do is in support of being a better fencer - e.g. weights, agility, flexibility. So I'm at my fencing club Mondays and Wednesdays for 2.5 hours each day. I work with my personal trainer two Tuesdays a month and do the work she has shown me on the Tuesdays I'm not with her. Thursday is usually my rest day. Friday, I do an hour of Pilates, minimum. Saturday is weights and agility (again - the plan from my trainer). Sunday is either rest or competition. I couldn't exercise this weekend because I was traveling and I can't fence tonight due to a family commitment and I'm crawling out of my skin.

That being said, before I started fencing, I was probably in your category of take it or leave it. Find something you love to do and then it won't be just exercise.

so I will preface this with the fact that I had this surgery with pre-existing issues with my muscles. These issues occurred after a surgery in 2014 that resulted in me being bed ridden for over 2 months. As a result I experienced some muscle deterioration. Over the years I have struggled with a lot of things but was still able to open a bottle of water or lift a laundry basket. Ever since getting my RNY done in August I have noticed it progressively getting worse. Physical therapy is no possible as I lack the transportation to get to and from if it isn't close enough. That being said I am now unable to even open a bottle of water. I struggle just to lift 10lbs with my right arm and can't even budge a 10lb weight with my left. I am right hand dominant so it's no Suprise my left deteriorated quicker. I am hopping someone could recommend some exercises I can do at home to help. While I do go to the gym I am unable to utilize their equipment as it is all to heavy even on the lowest setting. I have reached a point that my left arm is in an almost constant state of pain. Any exercise you can recommend for at home would be greatly appreciated.

Many of us here do not have to exercise to maintain our weight loss. I maintained my loss for about 6 years without any exercise. In 2015 my boyfriend had a stroke and I knew I needed to be more acvtive for my overall health (physical and mental).

Walking is my exercise of choice. I got a fitbit and focus on my daily steps.

Working out is so important to me. I love pushing my body and doing my races. I hate to see how much weight I would gain if I did not work out. I am having huge weight gain and that is with me working out and yes I track my food and take in about 12 to 14 hundred calories a day. I have great friends that I work out with and I would miss them.
